"It is impossible to put into words how great my classes are going. The kids are rising to challenges that they never thought possible, they love being in my class and are doing really great work. I love getting up in the morning and coming to work! These kids amaze me every single day... I would like to thank each of you personally for shaping me into the teacher that I am!"

EARN A SALARY WHILE YOU EARN YOUR CREDENTIAL

The Shirley M. Hufstedler School of Education offers many ways to carve the right path for a teaching career in California public schools. As an intern, you will serve as a paid teacher-of-record while you complete your program.

INTERNSHIPS APPROVED BY THE CCTC

HSOE internships are cooperative teaching programs between Alliant and an employing school district or accredited school site. All our internship programs are approved by the CCTC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing).

Program completers earn a preliminary credential in one of the following areas:

  • Multiple Subject Teaching
  • Single Subject Teaching
  • Multiple Subject Teaching with BCLAD Authorization

PICK YOUR PATH TO A CREDENTIAL

We offer two pathways to a credential. Choose the one that best matches your career goals and background.

STANDARD INTERN TEACHING PROGRAM

The Standard Intern Program supports and advances candidates who hold a teacher-of-record position in an accredited K–12 California school while simultaneously completing required coursework.

This intensive, time-demanding route serves highly motivated candidates who seek theoretical foundations and pedagogical strategies provided by graduate education coursework.

EARLY COMPLETION OPTION (ECO) INTERN TEACHING PROGRAM

The Early Completion Option (ECO) Intern program supports and advances candidates who have experience in teaching, education and instructional strategies or those who are changing careers. ECO intern candidates must currently have an offer of employment as a teacher-of-record in an accredited K–12 California school.

The ECO Program acknowledges and honors candidates who demonstrate competency and skill in teaching. By passing the Teaching Foundations Examination you may waive most traditionally required teacher education coursework.
